My journey into health and fitness started at the age of 12 when I ditched football for rugby. I began playing for Middlesbrough RUFC moving up the age grades collecting representative honours along the way, until my first game for the Senior 1st XV at the age of 17. After a couple of games at this level I realised I needed to get stronger, this is when my passion for training began. Over the off season I began to read everything and anything I could find on strength and conditioning for sport, I worked hard using the knowledge I had gained and noticed the difference in my performance over the following seasons. After a while I decided this wasn’t enough and I wanted to take my game to the next level, the research began again. After looking for instructional videos on Olympic Weightlifting I came across a guy called “Mikko Salo” and something called “CrossFit2. I did the usual search for CrossFit in my local area, which led me to find CrossFit Teesside. After around 9-12 months I decided I wanted to compete within CrossFit but knew I couldn’t do both rugby and CrossFit at the level I wanted and one would have to take a back seat. From there the rest is history as they say.
